MWWD TOPICS - INTRODUCTION

While the first MWWD framework has been directed towards the scientific aspects of the Marine Waste Water Discharges – hence the name – it appeared immediately evident that the conference could meet also a wide range of practical interests, as mentioned in the “Background”.
This has brought to the idea to extend the conference themes beyond the pure scientific themes to all theoretical and practical aspects related to the sealines and to the “use” of the costal environment.
Not everybody is happy about this trend, which has been developed in the past events, but we feel that most of the colleagues participating to the MWWDs find their interest at least in some – if not all - aspects of our programs.
Our themes are continuing therefore to be dedicated to the scientific aspects of the marine environment, to the planning, design, installation and operation of all types of sealines, to the design and construction of coastal works, stabilization and scour protection installations, in general on the whole spread of coastal topics.
We wish that MWWD continues, also in its 2010 issue, to constitute a “site” of aggregation in which scientists, engineers, producers, contractors and operators will present and discuss the developments in their professional activity.
In the next 2010 event, the plan is to call, once more, for contributions to a Round Table and Workshops, and to receive keynote speeches and papers.
The expected papers shall be related to the subjects indicated in one of the following three groups:
•
Scientific themes
• Sealines & coastal plants engineering, construction and operation
• Coastal works and coastal environmental protection
The following pages include a preliminary short list of proposed topics, but we count on the colleagues for new subjects and/or themes.
Suggestions or proposals – either as recommended themes or directly as paper’s subject – will be inserted in the relevant pages, with the scope to stimulate further ideas which shall bring to the presentation of new developments or new approaches in the field.

Proposals of subjects of common interest can be submitted by e-mail to carlo.avanzini@mwwd.org or with the ”Registration & paper proposal form”
