with paper and posters
and wishing them
as usual, good work and goodbye to 2008. It was decided to remain, at least once more, around the Mediterranean, choosing the possible seat in the Dalmatian coast of Croatia and, after the agreement with the Croatian Partners, the venue has been chosen in Cavtat, a nice town not far from Dubrovnik. As in the earlier events, we have maintained the cooperation with our co-sponsors IWA and IAHR and with their Specialist Groups, including the newly formed IAHR/IWA Committee on Marine Outfall Systems and we have continued to diffuse MWWD towards other scientific and technical Organizations, with the aim to expand the participation with all topics related to the coastal environment. We have moreover enhanced the functionality of the MWWD Joint Specialist Group with a Forum, open freely to everybody interested in our field. During the 2008 preparation, we have kept informed as many colleagues as possible through our periodical NewsLetters and through the information diffused to other Associations and Organizations. This attitude is becoming our standard, to make MWWD the focus of our community dedicated to the health of our coasts and seas. The 2008 event was successful, despite being to a certain extent penalized by several withdrawals and no-shows. However, 160 papers have found space in the 2008 proceedings, and a participation of 139 colleagues has assured the filling of the program. The conference has been opened on Monday 27/10 with a Round Table dedicated to climate changes; in parallel, the first meeting of the IAHR/IWA Committee on Marine Outfall Systems and an internal meeting of INSEA Project group have taken place.
